The Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) virtually Inaugurated Legal Literacy Clubs in more than 70 DAV Public Schools in the state as a major effort to raise legal knowledge among students. Hon. Mr. Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and distinguished Jharkhand High Court judges presided over the event, which highlighted the value of legal literacy in producing responsible and knowledgeable citizens.
A new initiative aimed at empowering students with essential legal knowledge. This initiative, in collaboration with the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA), seeks to create awareness about legal rights, responsibilities, and the justice system among the young minds of the school.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including SHRI VIKASH KUMAR BHAGAT, Nayadikari Cum Civil Judge(Jr. Div.) cum J.M 1st Class Ghatshila , SHRI SUBODH HEMBRAM, SHRI SUNIL SHIT, SHRI ALANKAR TAMARIA , DR. MRS. BINI SARANGI along with the school’s Principal, faculty, and enthusiastic students. The ceremony began with a welcome address from Mr. Mukesh Kumar, who underscored the importance of legal education in developing responsible and informed citizens. The Principal emphasized how the Legal Literacy Club will serve as a platform for students to better understand their legal rights and the workings of the justice system.
Representatives from JHALSA, including SHRI VIKASH KUMAR BHAGAT, Nayadikari Cum Civil Judge(Jr. Div.) cum J.M 1st Class Ghatshila and others spoke about the relevance of legal literacy in today’s world, especially for young people who need to be aware of their rights in various contexts, including education, employment, and personal matters. They expressed their support for the school’s initiative and discussed the vital role legal awareness plays in building a just society.
The event featured an engaging session led by JHALSA experts, who presented on key topics such as fundamental rights, child protection laws, and the importance of legal institutions. Students participated in an interactive discussion, asking insightful questions and gaining a deeper understanding of the legal landscape.
A ceremonial ribbon-cutting marked the formal opening of the Legal Literacy Club, which will be a hub for various activities, including workshops, awareness campaigns, debates, and seminars. The club’s goal is to equip students with the knowledge to navigate legal challenges and foster a sense of civic responsibility and justice.
With the establishment of the Legal Literacy Club, TS DAV Public School Baharagora, in partnership with JHALSA, has set a commendable example for other institutions, reinforcing the importance of legal awareness in shaping well-informed, responsible future citizens.
